Mostly because omg I have learned soooo much just reading things online and conversing with people.

I also think people are much more open about things online and usually don’t sugarcoat BS. Like for example irl if I call out cissexism I’m typically much more passive about it because I don’t want to deal with hostile cis people irl. And while I also don’t want to deal with hostile cis people online, I am much more likely to call them out on all their shit and not put up with any derailing or silencing tactics.

The biggest thing though is that most the activism I see online isn’t really activism per se. It’s people talking about their life experiences and giving real depth to the struggles they face. Post after post, with much more information than I could likely get talking to them in person.

A lot of this helps me a ton. Whether I can relate to it or not. And I’m not saying rallies or meetings or activism irl isn’t important, but I do wish people wouldn’t discredit what is said and done online.
